The Top 5 Ways You Can “Spring Clean” Your Health Now

Things are heating up to near-perfect weather here in the Fountain Hills community this March. And like many people, the staff at Fountain Hills Medical Center have spring cleaning on our minds. But instead of dusting the ceiling fans and airing out pillows, we’re thinking about how we can help our patients refresh their health routines. It’s essential to declutter and revitalize our habits and routines, and take a fresh look at whether our daily “healthy” practices could use a revamp.

1. Purge bad habits

During the colder months, it’s easy to slip into unhealthier habits such as overeating, excessive drinking, or smoking. Spring is the perfect time to take steps to break free of any bad habits. We recommend that you reach out to friends or family members for support with your efforts. Also, be sure to let your medical provider at Fountain Hills Medical Center know what your healthier goals are so we can provide helpful resources.

2. Declutter your diet

It’s time to bid adieu to the comfort foods in your kitchen to make way for spring salads, grilled lean protein, and delicious seasonal fruits. Clean eating reigns supreme during these lovely, warmer months. One note of caution: while it can feel tempting to jump into an extreme cleanse or detox regiment, be wary of what you’re feeding, or denying, your body. Your Fountain Hills medical team can advise you on effective, temporary, and safe cleanses or detoxifying diets.

3. Revamp your exercise routine

The same-old, same-old walk around the block you faithfully stuck to throughout the colder months is desperate for an update. Changing your exercise routine every few weeks is good for your mind, your muscles, and your endurance. These spring months bring ideal weather for taking advantage of the beautiful hiking trails in our state. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not try something different? Grab a buddy and try out a new activity; biking, outdoor yoga, swimming, pickle ball, or frisbee are a few fun ideas.

4. Clean your psyche

Try devoting some time to calming your mind. A new creative hobby can allow you to express yourself in a healthy and different way. Also, consider journaling, prayer, meditation, or mindful breathing exercises to reduce stress and promote mental clarity.

5. Take stock of your healthcare routine

Your Fountain Hills medical team at FHMC can work with you to make sure your health routine is where it needs to be. At your next appointment with us, we can talk with you about your medication and supplement routine, needed vaccinations, any bloodwork you’re missing, and we can make sure your emergency contacts list and health insurance information is current.

When it comes to spring cleaning, your health is just as important to refresh and update as is your home. We can sometimes get into a rut with our diet and activities without realizing it, and end up missing out on healthful, fulfilling, and beneficial practices. Fountain Hills Medical Center believes that good health incorporates the full body including your mind, spirit, and body. Spring is a wonderful time of growth and rejuvenation. And by taking these spring cleaning tips to benefit your health, your spring can be an exciting time of new developments for you.
